Research Month 2024 Highlights

Research Month 2024 Highlights

April 2024 marked the 10th anniversary of celebration of research and scholarship excellence at USD. Provost Baker kicked off the 2024 Research Month with a reflection on the progress made by USD research community over the last decade, along with faculty and students sharing what it means to be a researcher at USD. A highlight of the month was the Research & Scholarship Recognition event, hosted by the Provost’s Office in collaboration with the Office of Sponsored Programs and the Copley Library. This annual event celebrated grant achievements by USD faculty and administrators in 2023-24 and showcased research publications and creative works accomplished by faculty in 2023. Research Month was also filled with research development workshops, such as Grant Proposals and Grants Budgets 101, designed to help faculty and administrators with grant proposal development and award management. The Office of Undergraduate Research hosted a revitalized Creative Collaborations Undergraduate Research Conference, featuring research and creative projects conducted by undergraduates across disciplines. A new student researcher cohort was also selected to participate in the STAR and BURST programs in summer 2024. Research Month concluded with a USD-SDSU Collaborative Research Showcase, which was an inaugural event co-hosted by the two institutions to highlight successful research collaborations across disciplines and institutions and to spark new ideas for collaborative work and broader impact in the local community.
