USD Among Top National Universities in U.S. News & World Report's 2024 Rankings

U.S. News & World Report today released its 2024 Best Colleges rankings, and the University of San Diego was ranked among the country’s top 100 national universities. The University of San Diego, the youngest private university in the U.S. News & World Report list of Best National Universities, had an impressive showing in a total of 11 areas.

  • #62 in Undergraduate Teaching Programs (tie)
  • #15 in Real Estate (tie)
  • #84 in Undergraduate Business Programs (tie)
  • #126 in Undergraduate Economics Programs (tie)
  • #100 in Undergraduate Computer Science Programs (tie)
  • #14 in Undergraduate Engineering Programs (Not Doctorate) (tie)
  • #130 in Undergraduate Psychology Programs (tie)
  • #65 in Best College for Veterans (tie)

“We are proud of the recognition from U.S. News & World Report, and our focus remains on providing our students with a world-class education,” said USD President James T. Harris III. “We believe our passionate, innovative faculty members create a unique environment that sets our students up for success and inspires them to tackle some of humanity’s urgent challenges.”

Notably, USD jumped ahead 154 spots as a “Top Performer on Social Mobility”. According to U.S. News & World Report, the ranking looks at colleges that are successful at advancing social mobility by enrolling and graduating large proportions of students awarded with Pell Grants. The vast majority of these federal grants are awarded to students whose adjusted gross family incomes are under $50,000.
