Introducing the new symbol for Sustainability at USD!

Sustainability Graphic Element

In late 2019, the Office of Sustainability wanted to create a better representation for our office mission. We were fortunate enough to collaborate with Alexander Bryan, a USD alumnus who heads graphic design firm Hyphen8tion Studios, to fulfill our vision. After much thought, time, and effort, we are proud to present the new symbol for Sustainability at USD.

USD has long used purple as the color to represent the "Care for Our Common Home" Pathway. We continue that with the single purple leaf, while the five teal leaves symbolize the other five Pathways. The “Founders Blue” trunks reflect the mission and vision that serve as the foundation of the university itself. Finally, the purple circle signifies how the tenets of Care for Our Common Home / Sustainability are interwoven throughout the university.
