At the Edge of it All Podcast: Helping Improve Healthcare Access for Immigrant Communities

This week, “At the Edge of It All” was joined by Razel Milo, an associate professor of nursing and a family nurse practitioner. Dr. Milo was recently awarded a $500,000 grant to fund her research on improving mental health treatment in the Filipino community.

Milo talked to us about immigrating to the U.S. as a teen, and the pressure she felt to help her family members navigate the healthcare system. For example, how do basic healthcare terms translate to Tagalog? She explained some of the challenges immigrants and non-native English speakers face in that regard, and how she’s working to improve access for everyone.

The "At the Edge of it All" podcast is offered in English and, when available, in Spanish. You can listen to the podcast episode here.
