USD Announces Regina Dixon-Reeves, PhD, Appointed as Vice Provost for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
On May 24, the University of San Diego announced the appointment of Regina Dixon-Reeves, PhD, as the vice provost for diversity, equity and inclusion.
Dixon-Reeves comes to USD from the University of Chicago, where she served as the assistant provost in the Office of the Provost. She holds a doctorate in Sociology with a concentration in higher education from the University of Chicago.
“I am delighted to announce that Regina Dixon-Reeves, PhD, has been appointed as vice provost for diversity, equity and inclusion,” said USD Vice President and Provost Gail F. Baker, PhD. “She is a champion for diversity and inclusion and is an accomplished scholar, author and lecturer.”
Prior to her role as assistant provost at the University of Chicago, Dixon-Reeves served as the executive director of diversity and inclusion at the University of Chicago Medicine’s Biological Sciences division. Dixon-Reeves is also a member of the editorial board of Issues in Race & Society: An Interdisciplinary Global Journal.
As the Vice Provost for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Dixon-Reeves will serve on the President’s Strategic Leadership Team (SLT). In this new role, Dixon-Reeves will shape, define and build upon the university’s institutional core values by developing and implementing a strategic plan that will strengthen and achieve USD’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice.
Dixon-Reeves will assume her new role on August 1.
