It's Lissette Martinez, and this is your USD News Minute.

This past Sunday USD marched in the 40th annual Martin Luther King Jr. parade. Some of the teams in attendance included rowing, tennis and basketball. They were joined by the USD cheer team, alumni, staff and the San Diego community.

Political Science Professor David Shirk was in Washington, D.C. speaking at the eighth annual U.S.-Mexico Security Conference. There, global experts discussed the state of public security in Mexico and its impact on U.S.-Mexico relations.

Chicago Cubs star third baseman and former Torero Kris Bryant will be swinging into town later this week for Saturday’s “For the Love of the Game” baseball fundraiser and alumni game.

“I look back on my three years at USD, I can honestly say without a doubt the best three years of my life. Just every single experience I had there is something that I’ll never forget.”

Bryant will be presented with the Chet and Marguerite Pagni Hall of Fame award for producing one of the most distinguished college careers of any player in program history.

As always, thank you for watching. We’ll see you next week.
