Scott Anders, MA, Administrative Director, Nilmini Silva-Send, PhD, Assistant Director, Energy Policy and Initiative Centers (EPIC), School of Law, received $54,000 from The San Diego Foundation. EPIC will research the feasibility of using greenhouse gas reductions from projects within the San Diego region to generate carbon offsets to mitigate emissions from entities located within in the region.
Laura Deitrick, PhD, Associate Director of The Nonprofit Institute, School of Leadership and Education Sciences, was awarded $24,850 from The City of San Diego. These funds will be used to blind review and score requests for qualification for FY2021 submitted to the City of San Diego Commission for Arts & Culture.
Zachary Green, PhD, Professor of Practice and Director of Leadership and Diversity Initiatives, Nonprofit Institute, received continuation funds in the amount of $42,500 from Metropolitan Area Advisory Committee (MAAC). These funds will continue to be used for his project titled, “Continuing Leadership Development Program”. This program is a continuation of the MAAC Leadership Development program initiated last year. It will provide ongoing individual and team coaching opportunities for the leadership team.
David Karp, PhD, Professor and Director, Center for Restorative Justice, School of Leadership and Education Sciences received 2 awards totaling $20,000 from the following sponsors: 1) James Madison University 2) Whitman College. These funds will be used for various on-site trainings.
Mysty Rusk, The Brink Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Director, was awarded $40,000 from The City of San Diego. The Brink SBDC at USD provides intense consulting for innovative companies with the potential to scale into major economic contributors. Consulting is provided by experts with vast expertise who use their expanded networks to benefit entrepreneurs with investment and other resources.
Nilmini Silva-Send, PhD, Assistant Director, and Scott Anders, MA, Administrative Director, Energy Policy and Initiative Centers (EPIC), School of Law, were awarded $87,360 from the City of Encinitas. EPIC will research and estimate the greenhouse gas emissions impacts of the City's recently adopted Housing Element and Active Transportation Plan and revise associated policies in the City's adopted Climate Action Plan.
Michael Terry, DNP, Clinical Professor, Hahn School of Nursing, was awarded $26,012 continuation funds from Family Health Centers of San Diego, with the U.S. Health Resources and Service Administration being the prime sponsor. These funds will continue to serve impoverished, medically underserved adult patients at HFHC who are at risk for depression, other mental health conditions, and/or unhealthy alcohol or other substance use, and may also experience co-occurring chronic illness.
