Alcalá Award Call for Nominations

Alcalá Award Call for Nominations

In a few months, we will be recognizing the class of 2018. As we reflect on the journey of these students on Alcalá Park, let us reflect on the extraordinary students who will soon be receiving their diplomas. Nominations are now being accepted for the prestigious Alcalá Award.

This award is presented to two outstanding seniors annually as evidenced by:

  • Academic achievement (3.3 GPA or higher)
  • Participation and leadership in extracurricular activities
  • Citizenship and service to the university
  • Potential for future achievement

This award is presented to two seniors who have achieved the balanced and holistic development that has always been a goal of the USD education. The Alcalá Award is the only student award presented at Commencement. Recipients receive a plaque at Commencement and their names will be placed on a permanent plaque located in the Hahn University Center foyer. A committee representing Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, University Ministry and an alumni Alcalá Award winner (when possible) selects the recipients for this award.

Please submit your nomination(s) through this link.

The deadline to nominate outstanding seniors is Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 5 pm.  Please indicate in your nomination(s) how long and in what capacity you have known the candidate(s), and how each of the award criteria are fulfilled. Nominees will be asked to submit a resume, and top candidates may be interviewed by the selection committee.

Thank you for your assistance in nominating and recognizing outstanding, well-rounded Toreros!
