Homelessness In San Diego: Peter Seidler And Dan Shea Announce Initial Funding For Plans To Launch Temporary Human Services Campuses
University of San Diego
What:
Peter Seidler, Managing Partner of the San Diego Padres and Dan Shea, Partner at Paradigm Investment Group, LLC., will announce initial funding for plans to erect special industrial tent structures to house homeless San Diegans, men, women and children currently living on our streets. The plan, a first step in a temporary solution to address human suffering includes the building of several SPRUNG structures, an approach that has generated good results in cities such as Honolulu.
The SPRUNG structures can house the homeless and provide basic services for less than $17/per person per day or for about $500 per month per person.
The initial funding and proposal Seidler and Shea will announce was developed in collaboration with a coalition of public and private partners. The comprehensive approach includes:
- Implementation of the Coordinated Entry System (CES), a countrywide system that connects participants with services as quickly and effectively as possible and ensures critical data is collected at each point throughout the system, and
- Triage including assessment, outreach, case management, mental and physical health services, and long-term housing services. Seidler and Shea will also discuss the importance of the comprehensive use of the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS), a data collection tool designed to capture client-level information over time on the characteristics and service needs of people experiencing homelessness.Who: Peter Seidler, Dan Shea, James T.
