USD’s Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate Enrolls Record Master of Science in Real Estate Class

The University of San Diego’s Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate has enrolled its largest Master of Science in Real Estate class to date for the 2011-2012 academic year. The record class size comes at a time when the real estate market is in a significant downturn.

Students in the incoming class will kick off their academic year Aug. 22 with a one-week boot camp that covers the fundamentals of real estate, as well as other essential career topics, such as presentation skills, business writing and career mapping. The 10-month program is run as a cohort, so class sizes are limited to allow for team building and personalized education. The incoming class is comprised of 27 students: 17 full-time and 10 part-time.

“We are delighted to have such strong interest in our graduate real estate program, particularly in the current environment,” said Mark Riedy, executive director of the Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate. “Clearly, these incoming students realize that real estate is a great lifelong career choice and the University of San Diego is one of the best places to study it, given our intense industry involvement and the area’s dynamic real estate markets.”

The incoming class also has a record number of female students; seven, as well as five international students from South Korea, Australia, Guatemala, Mexico and China. Two of the incoming students are active-duty military, one of whom is a SEAL qualification training officer in the U.S. Navy. The youngest student in the class is 22; the oldest is 48.
