Maestro Karen Keltner, Resident Conductor of San Diego Opera, will speak about French opera and play sound clips from some of them (including "Don Giovanni", soon to be performed at the San Diego Opera).

Keltner has conducted many highly acclaimed productions, among them, Gounod's "Faust", Puccini’s "La bohème", and Massenet's "Don Quichotte". She has also conducted notable performances of many of San Diego Operas contemporary works ("Thérèse Raquin" by Tobias Picker, "A Streetcar Named Desire" by André Previn and "Cold Sassy Tree by Carlisle Floyd). She also collaborated with the well-known composer Gian Carlo Menotti, during his lifetime, in performances of "Amahl and the Night Visitors", and "The Medium and The Telephone", with Menotti as stage director.

Pastries will be served after the talk.

Reservations not required, but early arrival is suggested.
