Empathy, the ability to identify with another person's feelings, is an essential skill for developing the emotional intelligence that is critical for a healthy society. Experienced as the physical embodiment of another person's emotional states, empathy removes the distinction between oneself and "the Other," enabling conflict resolution, collaboration, and compassion. Using actor-training techniques she has developed specifically for developing empathy, Professor Glaser will give workshop participants tools to cultivate empathy in themselves and their students.
