Associate Professor; CMHC Program Chair

Saundra M. Tabet is an Associate Professor and Program Chair for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program in the Department of Counseling and Marital and Family Therapy at the University of San Diego. She earned a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the University of Central Florida and holds an M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of South Alabama.

A Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida, as well as a National Certified Counselor, Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor, and Approved Clinical Supervisor through the Center for Credentialing & Education, she teaches Practicum/Internship, Group Counseling, and Research Methods. Her role also includes overseeing program operations, curriculum development, CACREP accreditation alignment, faculty coordination, and student progression.

Her research focuses on clinical supervision, counselor development, and the behavioral health workforce. Additional scholarly interests include the stigma surrounding mental health in sports culture and strategies to reduce it, as well as scale development, instrument validation, and assessing therapeutic outcomes in counseling. She is an active member of the American Counseling Association, the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, and the Association for Assessment and Research in Counseling.
