Residential Life and Housing

What’s the best thing about making USD your new home?

Well, everything! You have easy access to classes and your professors. You’re in close proximity to your classmates for study group sessions and on-campus events. There’s no better way to grow your community than living with your classmates and peers.

First-Year Housing

First-year housing is the home of our Living Learning Community (LLC) program, where you live around other students who share similar passions. Each first-year area is unique, with its own live-in community directors, resident ministers and undergraduate resident assistants (RAs), who are committed to helping to maximize your on-campus living experience.

I met my best friends living on-campus! My first year wouldn’t have been the same off-campus.

Living on campus is a great way USD fosters community. I've had a great time meeting new people and creating lifelong friends in the residence halls.

Second-Year Housing

Second-year students can take advantage of apartment-style living with fully-furnished housing including a kitchen, living room and bathroom. On-campus staff offer a wide range of resources, services and personal support.

All second-year housing areas are home to the STEP (Second-Year Torero Experiential Program), providing events, community and support.

Being able to live amongst my fellow peers for 2 years definitely strengthened the feeling of community to get the full USD experience.

I lived in the Valley my first year and I loved it so much I was ecstatic to be placed there again my second year as an RA!

Upper Division, Transfer and Graduate Housing

Upper division and transfer students can choose from five unique apartment complexes. Graduate and law students are housed in the Presidio Terrace Apartments, which offers one-bedroom apartments for students. Upper-division, transfer and graduate students have access to a wide range of housing options, as well as access to all the resources offered to students living on campus.

Commuter Students

Commuter students are an important part of the USD community; many resources are available to make USD feel like your home away from home.
