Rooted in both the local and international communities, the University of San Diego is uniquely positioned to broaden perspectives, push boundaries and make a meaningful global impact.
There are many ways that Toreros engage as global citizens, beginning from their first days on campus:
- About 1,000 people from 100 different countries attend USD as undergraduate, graduate and law students.
- USD encourages our community to commit themselves be of service and address social issues that matter while exploring new ideas that will have a positive social impact. We approach our Changemaking pursuits with humility and the understanding that our efforts are linked to all those who have pursued, or will pursue social justice.
- Throughout the university, no matter the major of study or the degree pursued, global themes permeate the curriculum.
- All undergraduate students are required to have a minimum competency of three semesters of a foreign language to enhance their cultural understanding of others.
- Each year, USD's International Expo provides an opportunity for students to share images and information about their country’s traditional fashion, cuisine and fun facts. Students from around the world share their unique perspectives with fellow global citizens.
Study abroad prepares students to handle uncertainty and ambiguity, takes them out of their comfort zone, enhances language skills, and provides an opportunity to allow for an appreciation of different cross-cultural perspectives while you also learn more about yourself, and your place in a global community...
