Jennifer K. Olsen, PhD, is an assistant professor of computer science at the University of San Diego since 2020. She received her PhD and MS from Carnegie Mellon University in Human-Computer Interaction and her BS in Cognitive Science. Before joining USD, Dr. Olsen was a postdoctoral researcher at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne, Switzerland (EPFL). Her research interests lie at the intersection of human-computer interaction, cognition, and education. Her current work focuses on how collaboration can support learning and how to design educational technology to support these practices from both the learners’ and instructors’ perspectives.
