Karen L. Shelby, PhD, has been teaching at USD since the Spring of 2009, and served as USD’s Director of National Fellowships and Scholarships from 2022-2025. She teaches a range of courses in the Department of Political Science and International Relations including Sex, Power, and Politics; Feminist Political Theories; and Power and Justice. Her past research examined Simone de Beauvoir’s engagement with the Algerian War and Beauvoir’s everyday ethics of freedom. Current work builds on this notion of an everyday ethics.
