Andrew Biros serves as the Associate Director of the Social Innovation Institute. He leads a cohesive portfolio of high-impact initiatives that expands learning for students, and establishes the school as an epicenter of social innovation and entrepreneurship thought leadership. This work includes overseeing and managing the Social Innovation Institute, which houses the Fowler Global Social Innovation Challenge and the USD Case Series on Innovation & Social Change.
Prior to joining the University of San Diego in 2021, Andrew spent five years with the non-profit design firm New Tech Network. His work took him across the United States, partnering with public school systems concerning organizational change and leadership development, focusing on innovation and social impact.
After serving as a community organizer in West Philadelphia, Andrew pursued a path in public education. He received the Leonore Annenberg Teaching Fellowship from the Woodrow Wilson Foundation in 2011 and served as a neighborhood high school teacher in North and West Philadelphia schools. This experience taught him that learning must be relevant and impactful. This insight led Andrew to establish public partnerships with instructional startups, organize an inquiry-based school redesign, and coach a student design thinking team to a city-wide competition first-place finish. In 2015, Andrew moved to San Jose to design and launch a high school serving majority first-generation college-going students, focused on deeper learning and design thinking.
Always seeking to connect ideas and people, Andrew’s doctoral research at USC focused on how public sector leaders enact the positive change their communities deserve.
