Maimon Schwarzschild
Professor of Law
Professor Schwarzschild served in the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., during the Carter administration and joined the faculty in 1982. A specialist in constitutional law, he also teaches public international law, evidence and criminal procedure. Among his recent publications are "Popular Initiatives and American Federalism", Journal of Contemporary Legal Issues; "Pluralism, Conversation, and Judicial Restraint" Northwestern University Law Review; "Subversive Thoughts on Freedom and the Common Good", Michigan Law Review; and "Equality", in Blackwellís Companion to the Philosophy of Law and Social Theory. He has also written for the Supreme Court Review, the Harvard Law Review, the Duke Law Journal and numerous other journals. An English barrister as well as an American lawyer, he was called to the English Bar at Lincoln's Inn and is a member of barrister's chambers at Four Breams Buildings, London.
