Achievement Awards
Academic (Presidential and Trustee)
- Awards are automatically determined by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Your admission application is the application for the scholarships.
- Awarded based on superior academic achievement, test scores, leadership, service, talent, and other personal qualities irrespective of financial circumstances.
- Trustee - $17,500, up to and renewable for 4 years.
- Presidential - $10,000, up to and renewable for 4 years.
Diversity (Circle of Excellence)
- Awards are automatically determined by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Your application is the admission application for the scholarships.
- Awarded based on superior academic achievement, test scores, leadership, service, talent, and other personal qualities. Generally reserved for underrepresented students who have financial need.
- Generally reserved for underrepresented students who have financial need.
- Up to full tuition
Athletic - Up to full tuition and room and board depending on sport
- All of our NCAA Division I sports have scholarships except Football.

Music
- To apply, you must submit the Choral Scholars application form, teacher recommendation form, application letter, and an audiocassette or videotape.
- All materials must be received by January 31st. No materials will be returned, so please send copies only.
- In order to receive award, students must first be admitted to the university.
- $7,500 per year
Music Endowment Scholarship *
This scholarship is offered to a music major who shows outstanding promise and demonstrates a desire to contribute to the USD music program in a significant way.
Award amount: $2000 (first year), $3000 (second year), $4000 (third and fourth years)
Number of new scholarships awarded per year: 1-4
Application deadline: Thursday, January 15, 2009
Application requirements:
1. Letter of application
2. Two letters of recommendation, one from a music professional
3. High School or Higher Education transcript
4. Tape or live audition (two contrasting selections)
These materials should be sent directly to the Music Program (contact information) separately from all materials sent to USD for application for admission to the University.
* Entering freshmen and transfer students are eligible for this scholarship.
USD Symphony Scholarship
All students receive a scholarship to take individual lessons of their
instrument when they enroll in the USD Symphony each semester.

The University also awards a wide variety of scholarships given annually by donors or various University departments. The requirements vary and are established by the donors. Students are automatically considered for any scholarships for which they are eligible when they apply for financial aid.
