Elective Requirements (18 units):

  • K-12 School Leadership (ELDA): Students may opt to earn an administrative credential and a master's degree concurrently. Visit the above website for details and program outline
  • Individualized Program: The purpose of the individualized specialization course sequence is to allow candidates to select a courses that best meets her/his needs and interest. Candidates may select graduate courses offered in the department of leadership studies or from graduate programs in the School of Leadership and Education Sciences, the School of Business, the School of Law, and the Institute of Peace & Justice.

    Typically, students who select the individualized option are employed in nonprofit organizations, community agencies, government, military, health, international education, and other professions.

Exit Requirement:
All masters degree recipients will need to complete an exit requirement as specified by their program or area of specialization. Typical exit requirements consist of an action research project or thesis, and in some cases, a portfolio. Some programs/specializations allow students to choose an option, others have specified requirements. Please consult your advisor for details.

International Experience:
All students enrolled in the Department of Leadership Studies are expected to participate in an International experience as part of their studies.  This requirement can be met through either credit or non-credit bearing experiences.  Students should meet with their advisor to discuss how they plan to meet this requirement. The guidelines and options for fulfilling this requirement are published in your program handbook. Students should fill out the International Requirement form and obtain the approval of their advisor before beginning any experience.
