University of San Diego joins Pope Francis in calling Catholics and others around the globe to observe Saturday, September 7, as a day of fasting and prayer for peace in Syria, the Middle East, and throughout the world. USD invites the entire Torero Family to participate in this special day by dedicating themselves to advancing peace in some way within their own communities. In San Diego on Saturday evening at 7:00, Bishop Brom will preside at a Prayer Vigil for Peace at the Immaculata and Bishop Flores will preside at St. Joseph Cathedral downtown.
On Sunday, Pope Francis said, “Today, dear brothers and sisters, I wish to add my voice to the cry which rises up with increasing anguish from every part of the world, from every people, from the heart of each person, from the one great family which is humanity: it is the cry for peace!”
