Summer is a great time to consider attending a University of San Diego event as part of your planning. It’s especially helpful to the more than 58,000 USD alumni to reconnect and expand their professional and personal communities.
One summer tradition is the European Alumni Reunion weekend, which takes place this year, June 28-30, in Zurich, Switzerland. The event brings USD alumni from all over Europe to one destination. It’s a chance to reconnect and establish new connections in a new city. Alumni and guests are encouraged to attend.
David Pyke, the dean of USD’s School of Business Administration, as well as business and School of Law faculty members have committed to attend and look forward to meeting new alumni and strengthening ties with longer-standing Toreros.
The event opens June 28 with a welcome reception at the University of Zurich’s main campus terrace area. Jorge Pardo ’10 (LLM), the weekend reunion host, will provide the official welcome.
The early schedule for Saturday, June 29 consists of a historic walking tour of Zurich before enjoying a traditional Swiss and Zurich lunch at Zunfthaus Zimmerleuten. The meal program includes a guest speaker, the Honorable Dr. Thomas Faesi, ombudsman of the Canton of Zurich.
From there, attendees will be treated to an afternoon river cruise for more views of Zurich’s sites.
The evening portion of the day features a reception at Tao’s Restaurant and Lounge. Dean Pyke will be on hand to provide an update on future initiatives and recent accomplishments within the business school. Dinner at Tao’s follows, with a program and the announcement of the 2014 reunion host site complete with a toast by European Alumni Association Reunion President Arnaud Haefelin ’91 (MBA).
The concluding event for the weekend is a brunch buffet on Sunday, June 30 at Movies restaurant.
While the European Alumni Reunion is a terrific opportunity to meet people in a fun and adventurous city, USD summer events aren’t tied to one place. From San Diego, Orange County and Los Angeles to Las Vegas, Denver and New York, alumni have a chance to see, do and experience events such as help their community’s food bank, enjoy a baseball game, a hike, the annual USD Wine Classic or attend a theatre production.
The USD Alumni Association and its many U.S.-based regional chapters have plenty of great opportunities to reconnect, engage and enjoy the benefit of being USD alumni. Be sure to check out the current list of alumni events and be part of the fun.
