Torero Countdown Checklist

Please follow the Torero Countdown Checklist for all the steps you need to complete as you prepare for fall.

Once you have confirmed your enrollment and submitted your deposit through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, you are officially a Torero! You need to complete several required steps and important tasks prior to attending OLÉ! Weekend and the first day of classes.

For assistance in completing the Torero Countdown Checklist refer to your Torero Countdown Handbook. Your personal new student checklist and progress, for certain items, can be tracked on your MySanDiego Portal.

**Please note that these dates are representative of the 2019 school year. New dates will be forthcoming as they continue to evolve with the COVID-19 timeline.


  • Claim your USDOne account. Step-by-step directions are available to assist you in claiming your USDOne account. You are encouraged to wait 24 hours before completing the next items on the checklist to ensure your account is active in all USD systems. Be sure to check your USD email regularly for important updates and information. Contact ITS Help Desk if you need assistance or are having any trouble claiming your USDOne account.
  • Attend the Torero Countdown webcasts:
    • May 8th @ 6:00 p.m. PT: "Get Classes"
  • Take your math and language placement exams, review the companion guide, and decide on your LLC course (May 9-15). Visit for information.
  • Complete your First-Year Advising Questionnaire, available May 15. Must be completed by May 22nd.
  • Complete the housing application available May 16 (must be completed by May 22). *Your First-Year Advising Questionnaire must be completed first.


  • If applicable, submit your Summer Bridge Application by June 14.
  • Send official high school transcript showing graduation date, AP and IB scores, and transcripts of any college work you’ve completed to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. USD's school code is 4849. Please submit these no later than June 30th.
  • Check your MySanDiego portal for any outstanding financial aid requirements.
  • Check the date of your local Summer Send-Off social and go online to RSVP.
  • Select your meal plan by July 1 (or the lowest required plan will be assigned to your account!)
  • Complete required immunizations and submit verification forms to the USD Health Center by July 1.


  • Complete the required immunization forms and submit them to the USD Health Center. 
  • View the Torero Countdown webcast:
    • July 10 – “Get Down to Business: Paying Your Bill, Getting Your Aid and Avoiding Long Lines”
  • Remind your family members to register for Parent and Family Orientation at OLE! Weekend. Registration opens July 5.
  • Receive your class schedule, and prepare to consult with a summer advisor over the phone (between July 15-August 15)
  • Complete FERPA – authorized user process on the portal.
  • Visit for instructions on completing the required pre-arrival online prevention-based educational course due in August.
  • If you are living on campus contact your roommates and start connecting. 


  • Visit the Health Insurance website for information about health insurance requirements for all USD students. Actively enroll in or waive the USD Health Insurance Plan by September 13. 
  • Pay your bill and sign up for a payment plan. 
  • Submit a photo for your Torero ID Card by August 16.
  • Order your course materials via 
  • Pack for move-in day.
