Student Health Insurance Requirement

All USD full-time Undergraduate, Graduate, and Law students are required to have health insurance. At the beginning of every academic year, students need to decide to enroll in or waive the USD Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP). This requirement ensures that students in need of health and/or mental health care beyond the scope of services provided by USD Student Wellness Services can access the appropriate care and resources in the community.

Important Updates:

2019-2020

The deadline for full-time students to enroll in or waive out of the 2019-2020 USD Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) was September 13, 2019 and has been extended to Monday, September 30. In order to waive, students need to waive with an Affordable Care Act (ACA) compliant plan.

If a student does not actively enroll or waive, they will be enrolled into the USD SHIP and responsible for the premium charged to their USD Student Account.
