Student Health Insurance Requirement

All USD full-time Undergraduate, Graduate, and Law students are required to have health insurance. At the beginning of every academic year, students need to decide to enroll in or waive the USD Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP). This requirement ensures that students in need of health and/or mental health care beyond the scope of services provided by USD Student Wellness Services can access the appropriate care and resources in the community.

Important Updates:

New and Returning Students for Spring 2021

New incoming students and returning students who were previously part-time but will be full-time in the spring need to submit a waiver or enrollment form.

The enrollment and waiver forms are currently available and the due date to complete this requirement has been extended to February 26, 2021. The original due was February 3, 2021.

International Students Returning to the United States from Remote Study

International students who are returning to the United States from their home country for Spring 2021, are required to have Affordable Care Act (ACA) compliant health coverage. To get enrolled in the USD Student Health Insurance Plan with coverage from February 1, 2021 - July 31, 2021, please email wellness@sandiego.edu.
