As a feature of our Part-Time MBA and Flex MBA programs, students may be eligible to waive some required courses based on professional experience, prior coursework and assessments. If you have two years of work experience and an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher completed within the last seven years, you can apply to waive up to 14 units of core MBA coursework.

Unlike a traditional master’s in business administration (MBA) program, a Flex MBA program is designed to provide flexibility, so working professionals can balance work, life and studies.
At the Knauss School of Business, the Flex MBA format offers core courses in a hybrid format. Core courses are taken one weekend a month with additional asynchronous online coursework. Elective courses are offered weekday evenings or on weekends on campus. Our Flex MBA program follows the same curriculum and students earn the same prestigious MBA degree.
Weekend MBA programs are designed for working professionals who aspire to advance their career with a graduate degree, but need flexibility to balance other commitments such as family or military service.
USD's Flex MBA offers a balance of in-person and online coursework. It is built for busy professionals who still value face-to-face time with MBA peers and professors.

In a traditional Part-Time MBA program, classes take place on evenings during weekdays. In USD's Flex MBA program, core classes take place one weekend per month with virtual classes in between, providing working professionals with flexibility and the benefits of in-person learning and networking. Flex students can take elective courses in the evening, allowing them to personalize their curriculum.
At USD, the Part-Time MBA program starts only in the fall semester, while the Flex MBA program starts only in the spring semester.

The Knauss School of Business Admission team evaluates candidates holistically. We require a bachelor’s degree and at least two years of professional work experience. In addition, we look at undergraduate GPA, professional or military experience, professional references and test scores (although we do not require you to take the GMAT/GRE).
