About Don and Ellie Knauss

Invested in Tomorrow's Leaders

Donald R. Knauss is chairman emeritus of USD's Board of Trustees and former chairman and CEO of the Clorox Company. The generosity of Don and his wife, Ellie, has enabled the transformation of the Knauss School of Business at the University of San Diego. Their $50 million investment helped to fund the construction of the Knauss Center for Business Education and the creation of endowment funds to support the mission of the school. Their vision continues to inspire our work of forming ethical and compassionate business leaders who use wealth creation as a force for good.

A Vision for the Future of Business

In this video, Don and Ellie reflect on the life experiences that helped inform the deeper "why" behind their gift, and share their passion for student success.

This is our investment in educating ethical and compassionate business leaders. Leaders that enable a free enterprise system that creates wealth on a fair and equitable playing field. Without the creation of wealth, no society can take care of its most vulnerable, lift the standard of living of its citizens or make the investments needed to preserve the planet for future generations.
