Interim Academic Director
Eric Austin serves as one of the adjunct professors for the University of San Diego School of Law’s Entrepreneurship Clinic. He also serves as the interim academic director for all twelve of the direct client services clinics that comprise the University of San Diego School of Law’s Legal Clinics, which train 160+ law students and contribute 16,000+ hours of full scope pro bono legal services every year to low-income and underserved clients. Austin has served as the director and a staff attorney for the University of San Diego’s Low Income Taxpayer Clinic (Federal Tax Clinic) since 2016.
In fall 2015, Austin spearheaded the successful relaunch of the Entrepreneurship Clinic. Austin also helped support the successful launches of the Workers’ Rights Clinic in 2017, the Women’s Clinic (family law) in 2020, and the Housing Rights Clinic in 2022.
He earned his BA in mathematics, history, and economics from Northwestern University in 2001 and JD in 2011 from the University of San Diego School of Law. Austin is admitted to The State Bar of California and to practice before the United State Tax Court.
The American Association of Law Schools (“AALS”) selected Austin to the pro bono honor roll in 2022. The University of San Diego honored Austin with a Million Dollar Club Award in 2019, and a Five Million Dollar Club Award in 2024.
