Professional Experience
Professor Shamoun is a three-time graduate of USD and the founder and CEO of RJS LAW, A Tax Law Firm, which helps navigate a variety of tax issues, from those impacting small businesses to large international companies. He has represented numerous clients in both civil and criminal matters in state and federal courts and has extensive experience in negotiating settlements and litigating cases with the IRS and state agencies.
Honors and Affiliations
Professor Shamoun has been named a Super Lawyer from 2019 to 2025. He has also been recognized as a Top 100 Leaders in Law by the San Diego Business Journal in 2023 and 2024 and honored by the San Diego Business Journal as one of the SD 500 Most Influential People in San Diego Special Edition – Professional Services in 2020-2025. Additionally, he has been recognized as San Diego Metro Magazine’s Top Attorney and Men of Influence and San Diego Magazine’s Top Lawyer. In 2020, he was awarded San Diego Business Journal’s CEO of the Year Award (Small Private Company) and was named among San Diego’s 50 Leaders Making a Difference. In 2017, he was honored with the USD School of Law Distinguished Alumni Award. Additionally, in 2021 he received the prestigious University of San Diego Mother Rosalie Clifton Award. He serves on the advisory boards for both the School of Law and the School of Business. In 2016, he co-founded the nationally recognized USD School of Law – RJS LAW Tax Institute, a premier annual tax law conference, that brings the entire tax community together.
