Tammy Lin teaches Immigration Law with an emphasis on Asylum Law. She is the Supervising Attorney at the University of San Diego (USD) Legal Clinics’ Immigration Clinic.

Professional Experience

Prior to joining the USD School of Law as an adjunct faculty member and supervising attorney for the Immigration Clinic, Tammy Lin was a solo practitioner working with various organizations including the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program and the Legal Aid Society of San Diego. She spent almost nine years with Jewish Family Services of San Diego to create an asylum and immigration legal program prior to opening her own practice. Lin also spent a year as an Associate in the Law Offices of Peter Chu. While pursuing her JD at the USD School of Law, Lin was a research assistant for Warren Distinguished Professor of Law Orly Lobel.

Lin graduated with a Juris Doctorate from the USD School of Law in 2006. Since then, she has served and continues to serve in various leadership roles with the American Immigration Lawyers Association, including but not limited to two stints as the Chapter Chair and Chair of the National Media and Advocacy Committee. She was appointed by the mayor in 2022 to serve as a Commissioner on the San Diego Civil Service Commission. In 2015, Lin was named as one of the top immigration lawyers in San Diego by the San Diego Daily Transcript.
