Mechanical Engineering
Faculty Search
The Mechanical Engineering Department supports an undergraduate program in mechanical engineering with approximately 200 students. Our faculty is devoted to challenging and inspiring students to learn the technical and hands-on skills, local and global perspectives, social awareness, and leadership ability needed to become changemaking mechanical engineers. Our mechanical engineering students are highly-engaged and actively contribute to the mission of the Department and the University.
Successful candidates should have a doctorate in mechanical engineering, or a closely related field at the time of employment for a tenure-track position, or at least 10 years of relevant experience and a bachelors in mechanical engineering, or a closely related field for a contract position. Candidates from all areas of mechanical engineering are encouraged to apply, including, but not limited to the thermal sciences, mechanics, materials, design, manufacturing, sustainability, robotics, or biomechanics areas. Candidates should have a passion for teaching at all levels of the program, including our first-year engineering, senior capstone, and hands-on laboratory sequences as well as student advising and mentoring; and a commitment to advancing the university mission in justice and care of our common home. In addition to teaching, candidates will be expected to develop an active research program as a faculty scholar working to solve real world problems and would be encouraged to involve undergraduate students in their research. We encourage applications from candidates who are interested in research and teaching across disciplinary boundaries within a collaborative environment.
