The On-Campus, Full-Time Program is Launching Fall 2026

This on-campus or 100% online Master of Science in Cyber Security Engineering (MS-CSE) program, emphasizes ethics, applied and theoretical technical knowledge and skills, cross-domain learning and a mission-centric focus — essential training for the information security practitioners (public or private) who protect the prosperity and safety of companies, communities and the nation. The information security graduate program is academically rigorous, focusing on the engineering aspects of software and hardware security. It has been designed with working professionals in mind, offering courses either completely on campus or completely online.

Designed with working professionals in mind, this graduate program allows you to take classes 100% online or 100% on-campus. If you select the campus format you are able to choose between part-time or full-time. Both formats provide an experienced cross-disciplinary faculty, exceptional student support, and a robust curriculum.

  • The full-time on-campus program is required for all visa-seeking international students, and is also a good option for military-funded students looking to maximize their benefits.

  • Complete the program in 4 semesters
  • Intakes in fall and spring with no required coursework over the summer
  • Students will take one 7-week class at a time

National Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity

Offered through USD’s Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering, the MS-CSE program has been designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity by the federal government. Colleges and universities that receive this designation have met rigorous requirements and are recognized for a robust curriculum that is aligned with the NICE Cybersecurity Workforce Framework.

Haydar Majeed, PhD

Haydar Majeed serves as a professor of practice and program director of the MS in Cyber Security Engineering program at the University of San Diego's Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering. He’s a scholar-practitioner with over 20 years of cybersecurity experience.
