USD Entrepreneurship Events

The TECh Accelerator competition is an exciting opportunity for all USD student entrepreneurs, regardless of their degree program, to pitch their technology-based ideas to a panel of distinguished judges. Through this competition, teams may earn modest monetary funding to help fine-tune their pitch and optimize their video submission to help accelerate the achievement of their technical and market milestones in preparation for the Torero Entrepreneurship Challenge (TECh).

The Torero Entrepreneurship Challenge (TECh) is an annual entrepreneurial competition designed to engage, educate, mentor and reward game-changing projects that embody technological innovation. Budding USD student entrepreneurs from across campus and across all degree programs are guided down a proven entrepreneurial path to sharpen their venture-building skills with an opportunity to compete for up to $45,000 in seed money.

The Venture Vetting (V2) Pitch competition is an initiative others call "Shark Tank meets academia." From booming startups to using creativity to build a new world economy that helps improve lives, our entrepreneurship initiatives make magic happen. Venture finalists in the V2 Pitch, with students from Latin America and USD, have the opportunity to pitch in front of a panel of distinguished angel investors for significant seed money.

The Fowler GSIC is for the trailblazers, the dreamers, the doers. It was designed for those who can see a solution where others mostly see a challenge. Whether your passion lies in developing renewable resources or stopping environmental degradation, the Fowler GSIC invites you to engage with one or more of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals by developing an innovation that responds to an environmental or social challenge.

The USD Legacy Entrepreneurship Conference (ULEC) gives students, alumni and the local San Diego community the opportunity to network with fellow Torero entrepreneurs who are changing the world with their innovative ideas. ULEC is a once-a-year opportunity that brings together alumni entrepreneurs and friends of USD all on one dynamic panel of speakers.

The Changemaker Challenge is an annual idea competition that invites students to employ their imagination, grit and passion for generating ideas to address a current social challenge or need proposed by leaders from the San Diego region. Our community is invited to submit a two-minute video to showcase their idea. The top video entries will compete for monetary awards.

The Fowler Business Concept Challenge (FBCC) energizes the entrepreneurial spirit of University of San Diego students from across campus and focuses on catalyzing the entrepreneurial spirit of our USD community. The challenge is open to all current USD undergraduate and graduate students. Both finalists and semifinalists have the chance to win significant funding in scholarships.
