Welcome to the University of San Diego!
The team at the Center for Educational Excellence (CEE) is excited for you to join the community. The CEE, as we are affectionately referred to around campus, is here for you for all things teaching and learning. Below, you will find some helpful information to familiarize yourself with what USD has to offer in general and tips for making your transition as smooth as possible.

There are two university-wide annual orientations at USD that take place at the beginning of each academic year:
- New Faculty Orientation (NFO) hosted by the Vice President and Provost's Office.
- This orientation is for all tenure line faculty and full time benefits based faculty members on multiple (3+) year contracts who are new to the university.
- Please visit the New Faculty Orientation Schedule web page for dates, frequently asked questions, and contact information.
- Teaching Faculty Orientation (TFO) hosted by the Center for Educational Excellence.
- This orientation is for all non-tenure track (adjunct, clinical professors, and professors of practice) faculty who are new to USD or who are returning and would like a refresher.
- For the 2024-25 academic year, a 2-day orientation will be offered: Tuesday, August 20 - 21, 2024. View our Orientation Program here. We are offering a combination of in-person and virtual events along with online resources that you can view anytime.
- For questions, please contact cee@sandiego.edu.
Some departments and/or schools may also have their own orientation or onboarding process, so be sure to reach out to your department's Executive Assistant (EA) for more information.
