Faculty Wellness Opportunities

CEE Wellness Space

CEE's Faculty Wellness Space

We believe that paying attention to our holistic wellbeing is key to being able to have the energy to grow professionally. It is the CEE's mission to inspire you to grow in your teaching, so we have built a space for you to recharge a bit to help accomplish that. We recognize that self-care does not solve the multifaceted underlying issues that cause stress and imbalance in our lives. However, it can offer a reprieve from the day-to-day symptoms. Reserve a 20-minute session in our Faculty Wellness Space and get access to:

  • Advanced massage chair
  • Yoga and meditation station
  • Biofeedback (stress-management)
  • Light-therapy
  • Wellness apps with noise-cancelling headphones
  • Wellness books
  • and more!

Being Well @ USD

USD offers opportunities to help you maintain and/or improve your health through the Being Well @ USD program. They believe that the everyday choices we make can help us live healthier and happier lives, both at work and at home. Being Well @ USD offers resources for the following 8 dimensions of wellness:

  • Emotional wellbeing
  • Environmental wellbeing
  • Financial wellbeing
  • Intellectual wellbeing
  • Occupational wellbeing
  • Physical wellbeing
  • Social wellbeing
  • Spiritual wellbeing

Faculty Reading Circles

The CEE offers Faculty Reading Circles focused on pedagogy and wellness throughout the year for all faculty members. Reading Circles are small, self-paced groups who meet at least once a semester, virtually or in-person (observing COVID-19 safety practices), to discuss a selected book, provided by the CEE. By participating, faculty get the opportunity to:

  • Read inspiring, useful, and meaningful pedagogical books
  • Build and deepen interdisciplinary collegiate relationships
  • Apply new teaching strategies and practices
