Professional Experience

Professor Wright is a founding partner in the law firm of Wright, L'Estrange & Ergastolo. He has represented corporate, U.S. government agencies, and individual clients in a wide range of cases involving commercial litigation, unfair competition, product liability, antitrust, securities, corporate, bank fraud, fidelity bond, real estate, trust and estate, employment, constitutional, and admiralty law. He has experience with complex procedural matters, including mass tort, coordinated, and class actions. In addition to representing clients in federal and state court trials, arbitration panels, and before an international jury, Professor Robert has argued appeals before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the California Supreme Court.

From 1986 through 2024, Professor Wright taught as an Adjunct Faculty member in the Trial Advocacy course (formerly known as "Lawyering Skill II") at the USD School of law.

Honors and Affiliations

Since 2003, Professor Wright has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America in commercial litigation and securities litigation, has been named one of the "Best Lawyers in San Diego" by San Diego Magazine, and has been named by Super Lawyers in business litigation. He is a Life Member of the American Law Institute and a Master and member of the Executive Board of the American Inns of Court, Louis M. Welsh Chapter. In addition to teaching at USD School of Law, Professor Wright has participated as an instructor for the College of Advocacy, Hastings College of Law, and the National Institute of Trial Advocacy. He has also participated in numerous continuing education programs for the University of California Continuing Education of the Bar on civil discovery and business litigation in state and federal courts.
