San Diego Gas & Electric Company
Michael Colburn is Construction Operations Manager of Major Projects, for San Diego Gas and Electric Company, and has worked in the utility industry since 1979. He has a BSEE from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and has been a registered Electrical Engineer in the state of California since 1987. Michael has worked in a number of assignments, including field engineering/operations, system planning, distribution engineering, electric operations (control center), R&D, reliability, and electric system hardening.
Some of the projects he has worked on include distribution system automation, switchgear and other equipment specification/evaluation, emergency operations support, system reinforcement, incident investigation, advanced energy storage and many others. His personal interests include electric transportation/alternative fuel vehicles, aviation and wireless communications. Michael also teaches apprentice lineman & electrician classes through San Diego City College. An IEEE member since 1980, he is presently a Senior Member of IEEE.
