Donald's Garage is an open-access prototyping lab located within the Belanich Engineering Center at the University of San Diego (USD). Designed to empower students, makers and innovators across the campus, this well-equipped facility offers a safe and supportive environment where they can transform their design ideas into tangible realities. Named after the late renowned biomedical engineer Donald P. Shiley, Donald's Garage supports prototyping across a wide range of disciplines, from research and senior design projects to personal endeavors.

Donald’s Garage is open to all USD students, faculty, staff and Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering alumni and is constantly evolving to meet the needs of our campus innovators. You can gain card access to the tools and equipment by completing safety and equipment training. Badging completion will provide users from across the USD campus with access to Donald's Garage and its resources throughout the year during lab hours.
