We believe that growth, exploration, and innovation in teaching happens best through a reflective process. The CEE offers one-day as well as multi-day retreats at a variety of locations. By participating, faculty get the opportunity to:
- Write, grade, read, or just breathe in a dedicated space
- Attend all or part of a retreat to best fit your schedule
- Visit beautiful and inspiring locations
- Win a raffle prize at each event!
One-Day Retreats
USD Copley Library Faculty Reading Room
Friday, October 28th | Join anytime between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. | No registration required
Friday, December 16th | Join anytime between10 a.m. and 4 p.m. | No registration required
Details: Stop by the brand new Faculty Reading Room, located in USD's Copley Library (2nd level in the rear of the building) for all or part of the day. Use your USD ID card to access the room at any time. The CEE team will be onsite from 10:00am to 4:00pm to answer any questions or just to wave and welcome you. :)
Features & Amenities: Access to the CEE's Lending Library collection of pedagogical books; wifi; outlets; tables and individual desks; lounge and reading chairs; wheelchair accessible. *Copley Library does not allow any food in the building, but the CEE team will have have prepackaged snacks and beverages that you can take outside.

Mount Laguna Desert View Picnic Area
Friday, November 18th | Join anytime between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. | No registration required
Details: Join us for a day (or part of the day) in the Laguna mountains where quietude and nature's beauty will inspire you to think, read, and write. The Desert View Picnic Area provides picnic tables and hiking trails along with sunshine and shade. The CEE team will be onsite from 10:00am to 4:00pm to answer questions, buy your parking pass, or just wave and welcome you. :) Each picnic table has a firepit, so feel free to invite friends/family to join you at the end of the day for a campfire (firewood available at Laguna Mountain Lodge and Store just a few blocks away). There are 17 sites sitting at an elevation of 5,900 feet.
Features & Amenities: Drinking water, flush toilets, paved parking lot, wheelchair accessible features and immediate access to the 2,650-mile Pacific Crest Trail - a horse and foot trail. Cell service is limited but we have successfully attended Zoom meetings from some sites, so don't let that deter you!

La Jolla Shores Beach, San Diego

Details: Join us for a day (or part of the day) at La Jolla Shores where soothing waves and nature's beauty will inspire you to think, read, and write. The CEE team will be onsite from 10:00am to 4:00pm to answer any questions or just to wave and welcome you. :) La Jolla shores has multiple firepits, so feel free to invite friends/family to join you at the end of the day for a campfire.
Features & Amenities: Free parking, restrooms, picnic tables, firepits, accessible to those with disabilities (including rentals for beach wheelchairs), showers, and nearby eateries.
