Where in The World are our Students?

The study abroad MBA program has gone to various locations such as Lisbon, Portugal; Tokyo, Japan; Buenos Aires, Argentina; and Berlin, Germany. While the locations can vary each year, the experience provides students with professional and cultural knowledge that spans the globe. The international business consulting course usually takes place during intersession in January or summer quarter.

Below are examples of previous locations and courses provided:

Porteño Pulse: The Argentine Experience

The program in Buenos Aires allowed students to work in consulting teams with local Argentine firms addressing real business challenges in an emerging-market context. The program introduced students to key features of the Argentine business environment, including economic volatility, regulatory complexity, and opportunities linked to technology and regional trade. While also experiencing cultural elements — such as tango, soccer, and Argentina’s well-known food and wine traditions — which offer additional context for understanding social norms and business relationships.

Tokyo: The Urban Classroom

The Tokyo program had students work directly on-site at the company partners' offices, getting an immersive taste of day-to-day professional life. At the end of the project, teams presented their findings and recommendations to company executives. Although the work is intense, students also had an opportunity to tour the city and surrounding area and participate in unique cultural activities such as a sumo wrestling competition, tea ceremony, and dining featuring local cuisine.

“International consulting in Buenos Aires gives MBA students a rare chance to apply their business training in a complex, fast-changing market. Working with Argentine companies—fromfamily firms to emerging tech startups—helps students develop a deeper understanding of global strategy, resilience, and innovation. It is an experience that expands their perspective far beyond the classroom.”
