Amy Schmitz joined the School of Business Administration from ProLiteracy, a national adult literacy nonprofit, where she was director of communications. She helped to rebrand ProLiteracy, coordinating and implementing ProLiteracy’s marketing and communications strategies, including products and services, and increasing awareness. Before joining ProLiteracy, Amy was the communications manager for the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University, where she led strategic communications for the school to recruit new students and support fundraising efforts. Her public relations experience also includes working as the deputy director of communications and media relations for CARE.
A Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, Amy served as a teacher-trainer in the higher education institute of Cape Verde, West Africa, from 1998-2000. She holds a master’s degree in communications management from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, a master’s degree in creative writing from George Mason University, and a bachelor’s degree in visual arts from the Corcoran College of Art and Design.
