Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. - Mu Iota Chapter, was chartered May 23, 1978, at San Diego State. The Mu Iota chapter is rooted in the sororities mission to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship among college women, to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women to improve their social stature, to maintain a progressive interest in college life, and to be of “Service to All Mankind.”

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. belongs to the Multicultural Greek Council at USD and is a city-wide chapter, meaning they have members and host programming on nearby campuses such as SDSU and UCSD in addition to USD's campus. Follow them on Instagram to stay connected.
