E-Mail and Web Services
Important Changes To Your Account
Effective July 17, 2024, the following changes will be implemented for all Alumni USD accounts, specifically impacting use of Google Photos and Google storage limits:
- Google Photos will no longer be accessible through your USD/sandiego.edu account.
- Your USD Google storage (e-mail + Google Drive) will be limited to 20 GB. If you are over this limit, please export and remove files in order to observe the capacity restriction.
While we understand this change may cause inconvenience, it is necessary to ensure the sustainability of university resources and continued access to USD accounts for our alumni. Click here to learn more.
Alumni of the University of San Diego are entitled to a USD e-mail account for life and can also have limited access to Google Drive. These services are intended to be used for USD-related communications (e.g., messages to other USD alumni or to USD faculty/staff) and not for personal use. Storage for these accounts is limited so, unless needed, please do not send or keep large attachments or files such as videos and photos. Graduates who do not need these services are asked to notify the ITS Help Desk at help@sandiego.edu. Accounts that are inactive for a period of one year will be disabled and large files that have not been accessed for two years will be archived.
Starting January 27, 2025, we will be implementing 2-Step Verification (also known as two-factor authentication or 2FA) using an authenticator app for all USD Google Accounts. 2-Step Verification adds an extra layer of security by requiring not only your password but also a second form of verification to access your account. This additional layer of security is being introduced to reduces the risk of unauthorized access, phishing attacks, and identity theft.
Here's how to Set Up 2-Step Verification with an Authenticator App.
