The Climate Collaborative is committed to accelerating and supporting the development of regional responsive research to support our member organizations and aiding in efforts to enhance our region’s climate leadership. With an eye towards knowledge sharing, learning and community building for our network; we focus efforts to support projects that build our region’s capacity for climate action. By leveraging partnerships, our projects aim to catalyze the region towards a more equitable climate focus by capitalizing on new opportunities to ensure investments and climate solutions are implemented in our region. Check out our featured projects below.

San Diego Region Coastal Resilience Roadmap
This project was designed to build the capacity of mobilized partners across the San Diego region in order to help build more connectivity between our coastal and inland communities to move the needle on implementation of new projects that build coastal resilience to climate impacts. Developed in partnership with the Resilient Cities Catalyst and CivicWell, the Roadmap and research Toolkits developed through this project work to facilitate accelerated action for coastal resilience projects and investments that prioritize benefits to underserved communities in the region. As communities across the region grapple with how to plan for greater risk and damages as a result of coastal flooding, annual storm surges, king tides, and other shocks and stresses, there is growing recognition of the need to strengthen interjurisdictional collaboration. This Roadmap aims to amplify tangible opportunities to align regional climate action planning efforts through the implementation of policies and projects that demonstrate measurable benefits in reducing vulnerabilities to local climate change impacts–while avoiding the potential negative impacts of misaligned or locally-specific planning that lack regional coordination.
CaliforniansForAll College Corps Fellows
The CaliforniansForAll College Corps Program aims to create pathways for supporting service and prepares university students for careers in K-12 education, climate change, and food insecurity. SDRCC is proud to collaborate with the University of San Diego to host and match students with local community partners and SDRCC members working in these priority areas. College Corps fellows who work with SDRCC support core program research and outreach and gain valuable knowledge and experience on the local climate initiatives of the San Diego Region. Be sure to check out our Fellow-led research on local climate hazards and considerations.
San Diego Regional Energy Academy
The Energy Policy Initiatives Center (EPIC) and the San Diego Regional Climate Collaborative (SDRCC) are working together to develop the San Diego Regional Energy Academy. This program is being developed with the support of our funding partners, San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) and San Diego Community Power (SDCP). The Energy Academy will be the product of a collaborative effort between all partners, as well as expert guidance from the program’s Advisory Committee. This program will serve as a valuable resource to support and enable leaders to reach our regional climate resilience goals.
Climate Leader Award
In 2016 and 2017, SDRCC honored regional practitioners with the Climate Leader Awards aimed at recognizing individuals driving solutions across diverse climate disciplines including sea level rise, stormwater management, energy efficiency, and climate adaptation. To continue honoring these commitments as well as raise the profile of our region’s leadership on climate action, the San Diego Regional Climate Collaborative is excited to reintroduce our Climate Leader Award program in 2024, with a fresh new update.
