Who We Are

Darbi has been supporting the San Diego Regional Climate Collaborative's programs since 2019 and has served as the organization's Director since early 2021. Through the Climate Collaborative, Darbi leads work that supports regional work on projects implementing climate adaptation, coastal resilience, energy efficiency, and climate-smart water resource management. She received her BS in Environmental Science and Policy from the University of South Florida and her MS in Environmental and Ocean Sciences from the University of San Diego.

Maya earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of California, Davis in 2019 and has spent the past three years working in nonprofit accounting and administrative roles at the University of San Diego. She is passionate about supporting mission-driven organizations through financial management and operational coordination. She currently serves as the Assistant Director of Operations for SDRCC, overseeing operations, budget management, and contract administration while supporting fundraising and grant development initiatives that advance climate resilience across the San Diego region.

A-bel serves as SDRCC's Resilience Program Manager, leading research and project management across SDRCC's climate resilience portfolio. They received their Bachelor's in Environmental & Ocean Sciences with minors in Biology and Gender Studies in 2020 and their Master's of Science in Environmental & Ocean Sciences in 2022 from the University of San Diego, focusing on the movement and migration of California's coastal sharks and rays. A-bel brings a passion for storytelling and data-driven research as they tackle the San Diego region's most pressing climate issues.

Brenda received their Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of California, Riverside in 2021. Since then, they have worked with Community-Based Organizations, providing direct services to underrepresented communities. She uses her background in political science and community engagement to ensure projects and collaborations are in alignment with principles of equity and environmental justice. Brenda currently serves as the San Diego Regional Climate Collaborative’s Energy Program Manager, leading the organization’s energy programming.

Ian serves as SDRCC's Program Coordinator, where they support a growing portfolio of research projects and tools, including the Climate and Energy Funding Tracker, the Regional Plan Tracker, and the Binational Resilience Initiative Database. They bring a nuanced understanding of regional climate risks, including wildfire patterns and extreme heat, and leverage their expertise in geospatial tools and community-driven datasets to improve accessibility to climate resilience education. Ian received their Bachelor's in Environmental Studies with a focus in urban planning from the University of Michigan, and their Master's of Advanced Studies in Climate Science and Policy from the University of California, San Diego. Before joining SDRCC, Ian was an associate researcher at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
