The Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science is proud to support the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy by providing qualified nurses and service members the opportunity to earn a master's or doctoral degree through the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) and Duty Under Instruction (DUINS) programs.
Through these partnerships, military nurses can advance their education while preparing for leadership and advanced practice roles that strengthen military and civilian health care.

In-house Military Expertise & Support
School of Nursing Military Liaison Dr. Sheree Scott, a retired Navy Nurse Corps officer, supports military-connected students at the Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science while preparing future nurses to care for veterans, active-duty service members, and military-connected populations.
We understand the unique needs and timelines of military-connected students and veterans because we have lived that experience. We are proud to have a dedicated military program specialist who:
- Brings more than 25 years of nursing experience
- Is a DUINS graduate with firsthand enlisted-to-officer experience
- Has worked with military advisory boards and specialty leaders

Supporting Veterans Through the Yellow Ribbon Program
The University of San Diego is a proud participant of the Yellow Ribbon Program.
The Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program (Yellow Ribbon Program) is a provision of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008, also known as the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill® or Chapter 33. The program allows institutions to contribute an amount of up to 50 percent of a veteran's unmet costs. Via the program, all Veteran, Active Duty Service Members, Spouses, and Dependent Children students 100% eligible for Chapter 33 Post 9/11 G.I. Bill® are granted additional funding for tuition.
