Family Nurse Practitioners provide comprehensive care to individuals and families across the lifespan, from infancy to older adulthood. USD’s FNP program prepares nurses with advanced clinical knowledge and skills to manage a wide range of health conditions in primary care settings.

Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioners are advanced practice nurses who specialize in mental health care. They assess, diagnose, and treat psychiatric conditions using a holistic approach that addresses both mental and physical health.

USD’s PMHNP program builds on a strong advanced practice nursing foundation, covering pathophysiology, physical assessment and diagnosis, and pharmacology, along with specialized coursework in psychopharmacology and psychotherapeutic modalities.

This dual specialty equips Nurse Practitioners to provide comprehensive primary care and case management from birth to end of life, including adolescents, adults, vulnerable older adults, and their families.
