Club Registration

Starting a New Club

We can’t wait to help you start the Club Registration process! Keep in mind that in order to start a new club on campus you must have:

  • A minimum of 10 undergraduate students
  • A current USD employee to act as your club's advisor
  • Constitution (template)

Register Your Organization

If your organization is not registered with the University, and you would like to register, please visit Torero Orgs. Registered Organizations receive the following benefits:

  • Use of certain campus facilities for programs and meetings
  • Opportunity to request financial support for organized activities through the Associated Student Government and other University sources
  • Use of the University's name and logo
  • Ability to reserve rooms and other campus spaces
  • Participation in the Alcalá Bazaar

Starting a New Student Organization

Complete the following steps to start a new club at USD. There may be additional requirements for recognition depending on the type of organization and if it is affiliated with a non-USD organization.

  1. Complete the Student Org Leadership Training.
  2. Once you're received an email letting you know your org has been unlocked, go to Torero Orgs and complete a registration form.
  3. The Assistant Director of A.S.G. reviews the club registration form for completion and consistency with USD's mission statement.
  4. The Assistant Director of A.S.G. contacts the advisor to confirm they agree to advise the club and to inform them of upcoming advisor training and resources.
  5. The individual who submitted the registration form on ToreroOrgs will be emailed once the registration form has been reviewed and is complete.
  6. A representative from the Student Org Committee will email the date, time, and location of the next Student Organization Committee Meeting. The students will present a 2-minute summary of the club's mission and goals at the meeting.
  7. The Student Organization Committee will review all of the proposed student organizations. If the SOC approves the proposed student organization, they will then be presented to the External Affiliation Committee (EAC) only if the proposed organization has a local, national, or global affiliation. If the group does not have any external affiliation, then the proposed student organization will be presented to the ASG Senate for final approval.

  8. Once approved by Senate the President, Treasurer, and Advisor will receive an email from the Student Organization's Committee Chair informing them that their organization is officially approved for the academic year.

Re-Registering a Student Organization

Complete the following steps to re-register a club at USD. All clubs must re-register every year and there may be additional requirements for recognition depending on the type of organization.

  1. Complete the Student Org Leadership Training.
  2. Go to Torero Orgs and log in using your USD username and password. Click on the manage tab, then click 're-register' an organization, and select the org you wish to re-register. Complete the registration form.
  3. The Assistant Director of A.S.G. reviews the club registration form for completion and consistency with USD's mission statement.
  4. The Assistant Director of A.S.G. contacts the advisor to confirm their agreement to serve as the club advisor and inform them of upcoming advisor training and resources.
  5. The individual who submitted the registration form on ToreroOrgs will be emailed once the form has been reviewed and is complete. (If registration is completed prior to the expedited deadline, September 29th, skip #6).
  6. A representative from the Student Organization Committee will then email the date, time, and location of the next Student Organization Committee Meeting. The students will present a 2 minute summary of the club's mission and goals at the meeting.
  7. The Student Organization Committee will review all of the proposed student organizations and if approved they will be presented to Senate the following week.
