Biography

Kenneth Anderson

Lecturer I and Gospel Choir Director, Music

    Ken Anderson has been a music instructor, trainer, adjudicator, director, and performer in San Diego for several decades. He is the director of the USD Gospel Choir, UCSD Gospel Choir, and Martin Luther King Jr. Community Choir San Diego (MLK Choir). He has performed with the MLK Choir throughout America and 9 countries abroad. He has performed with San Diego Opera, San Diego Symphony Orchestra, and La Jolla Civic Chorale.  He is also adjunct faculty at City College and two of their high school satellite campuses, teaching the history of black music in America.

    “Joe,” performance in ‘Showboat’ – Christian Community Theater

    “Judas” in Jesus Christ Superstar; – Christian Community Theater

    “Dagoo” in the San Diego Opera production of Jake Hagee’s MOBY DICK, 2012

    Awards

    • Recipient of numerous Teacher Of The Year Awards from the colleges and sororities at UCSD.  Awarded Musician Of The Year by The National Association of Negro Musicians, the Arts Award by the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, 73rd Western Regional Conference, the Barbara J. and Paul D. Saltman Distinguished Teaching Award, non-senate member, and rated no. 3 in 2013 and No. 5 in 2014 on ratemyprofessor.com.
