At the end of his classic text, The Origin of Species, Darwin argued that "psychology will be based on a new foundation," recognizing the value of connecting human psychology with an evolutionary perspective. However, psychologists did not begin to apply evolutionary theory to the understanding of human psychology with any regularity until the 1980s. Join Rebekah Wanic, PhD, from the Department of Psychological Sciences, for an introduction to the *relatively* young discipline of evolutionary psychology, designed to provide insight into the approach and clarify common misconceptions while exploring specific topics such as altruism, imagination and family conflict.

Bridges Academy is a continuing education program hosted by the University of San Diego Office of Planned Giving. While the lecture series is free to all participants, the Office of Planned Giving encourages the support of the Bridges Endowed Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships to undergraduate students. The first Bridges scholarships awarded were for $1,000 per student. In 2019, the scholarship recipients each received $4,710. Thank you all so very much for making this possible.
